It is a sense of relief for one who believes in Test cricket much like T20. A 10-wicket test match victory that too on the fourth day and in an alien land deserves the credit. With due respect to veterans in the team, I have to mention the passion factor this young man MS, who used to play tournament for Railways in Digha and surrounding localities of Bengal border, has brought in. What could be the best newspaper headline for this historic moment!!
A quick search on NZ-based newspapers takes me to something more thought provoking. "No New Zealand cricketer in their right mind would want to be a test match specialist, certainly not when the expansive stroke players in Twenty20 and ODIs outrank your yearly income 10-1. Then again I ask the question: how desperate are our key players to find their test games when it is not lining their pockets. Really, how desperate are they?," sums up Mark Richardson on www.nzherald.co.nz.
Does it convey something more meaningful to the future of cricket in this subcontinent!!
